Let me just say this right now: I love promotion codes. I use them whenever possible to nab big discounts when I shop online. They’re easy to find: Check sites such as RetailMeNot and CouponCabin. Or, type the name of the Web site you’re buying from, plus the words “promotion code,” into Google.
But did you know you can use more than one code at a time?
I didn’t, until Borders practically begged me to. I was buying two books on their site when I saw this message on the checkout page: “You may apply more than one promotion code to your order.” Who knew? I already had a code for 25 percent off one book. A quick search on RetailMeNot got me another code for 20 percent off the other book. Net savings: $13.50. Not bad!
Combining codes also worked at Victoria’s Secret. I used one code for $15 off my $100 purchase and another for 20 percent off select dresses. I managed to shave $30 off my total, although the $15.99 shipping ate up a big chunk of that.
Not every site lets you double up. Coldwater Creek, for example, allows only one code per order. And some codes specify that they can’t be combined with other offers. Still, it’s definitely worth trying.
And now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to do some more shopping with all that money I saved …
